Fungal treatments.

Often the nail bed is infected, not just the nail. Some over the counter solutions cant reach the fungal activity. LACUNA is an exciting and painless product for treating Fungal Nail. The Lacuna method is based upon Controlled Micro Penetration that makes tiny 0.4mm holes into the nail allowing for better penetration of antifungal treatments to the nail bed.  This has a high success rate and popular with patients with fungal nails.

Nail reconstruction and bracing.

Nails can be damaged and misshapen by a number of causes such as  trauma, fungal infection or removal from previous nail surgery. A popular treatment for people with unsightly nails, toenail reconstruction is a straightforward cosmetic procedure. LCN professional products uses a specialist gel, layered over the existing misshapen or unsightly nail, in order to build a nail that’s more aesthetically pleasing. and can remain in place for around 6 weeks.

Diabetic, vascular and neurological assessments.

Annual assessments can monitor or detect deterioration, neuropathy (loss of feeling) or manifestations of peripheral vascular disease. Assessment reports will then be forwarded to your GP and to you for your own monitoring. Using a doppler, we listen the the quality of the vessels and how well the blood is reaching the lower limb. Loss of protective sensation is monitored, an ABPI (ankle brachial pressure index) is conducted to detect peripheral vascular disease alongside other clinical tests. Advice is given regarding lifestyle changes on how you can monitor your own health.

Verrucae treatments.

The verruca is a virus which lies within our own cells and evades our own immune system; allowing to stay in situ for a number of years. Often the lesions resolve themselves within 2 years. However, some affect daily life, cause pain and look unsightly. We have a number of treatment options, all depending on the duration and how deep the verruca lies.

Verrucae treatment options available at Sefton Podiatry:

VERRUTOP - Verrutop is a professionally applied nitrizinc complex which breaks down the protein  in the HPV affected tissue cells. Suitable for children.

SWIFT - Swift uses a precise dose of microwave energy to create localised heat energy, the healing cascade begins immediately. Tissue cells are replaced, repaired and regenerated - more info below.

FAULKNERS NEEDLING - Under a local anaesthetic, the verrucae lesion is punctured many times. This allows the viral particles to be exposed into the deeper tissues, allowing for an increased opportunity for the HPV virus to be recognised by the immune system and eradicated.

COMFORT DEBRIDING - Verrucae can often have  overlying callus, causing discomfort. This can be debrided resulting in the lesion being flush with the skin, supple and eases pain and discomfort from the verrucae. Often, a little tactical nick can increase the chances of the verrucae resolving through increased blood flow to the verrucae site.

We aim to keep our prices reasonable and continue to provide a high standard service along with value for money. Unfortunately, equipment and stock price increases occur. However, I will endeavour to reduce how this affects our current pricing and customers. Should this situation arise, price increases will be implemented on the following  5th April.
